I serve on the Boulder City Council and I’m running for re-election. I love Boulder and my mission is to make it work for everyone, now and in the future.

I’m working to…
1. Cut the costs of living. Create more affordable and stable housing, transportation, and energy options that save money in the day to day, give people more breathing room, and make sure every dollar spent delivers the most value.
Adapt our community to a changing world it wasn’t built for. Ramp up systems to protect Boulder from the rising danger of large-scale wildfire, strengthen flood mitigation, and prepare our energy, agricultural, and transportation systems to withstand extreme weather.
3. Make local government predictable and effective. Streamline permitting and reduce wait times, keep roads in good condition, and ensure our beloved parks, rec centers, and other facilities are safe, accessible, and easy to rely on.
Here are my priorities to make the work a reality. And here are the many Boulder leaders and residents endorsing me and my approach.
Making Boulder work for everyone, now and in the future
I grew up working the cash register at my family’s convenience store in small-town Oregon, where you fix what’s broken. So when I served in the Peace Corps in Kyrgyzstan and saw melting snowpack push snow leopards to attack livestock, I committed my career to climate solutions.
In the two decades since, I’ve led a variety of climate transformations, from reducing energy waste in Chinese factories to bringing new models of public transit to communities across California with a $60 million program I launched.
My wife and I chose Boulder to raise our two girls, now in BVSD elementary school. Keeping families with kids here, while making Boulder work for people in all ages and stages of life, is a big reason for my work on council.
As a councilmember, I’ve been working to make Boulder life better with our children’s future in mind. I’ve championed repairing roads, protecting workers’ wages, and keeping the power on, while pushing for reliable frequent transit and protection from coal ash pollution and wildfire. I serve on the Financial Strategies committee, where I’m helping make our tax dollars go further and our budget issues more understandable to the public. Here are some things I’ve led.
Boulder faces a lot of pressures, from the federal government pulling support to buildings reaching the end of their lives. But Boulder rises to big challenges. Together, we’ll make Boulder work for everyone, now and in the future.
