Priorities
My mission is to make Boulder work for everyone, now and in the future.
I’m focused on helping Boulder to:
1. Cut the costs of living.
Create more affordable and stable housing, transportation, and energy options that save money in the day to day, give people more breathing room, and make sure every dollar we spend delivers the most value. Learn more
2. Adapt our community to a changing world it wasn’t built for.
Ramp up systems to protect Boulder from the rising danger of large-scale wildfire, strengthen flood mitigation, and prepare our energy, agricultural, and transportation systems to withstand extreme weather. Learn more
3. Make local government more predictable and effective.
Streamline permitting and reduce wait times, keep roads in good condition, and ensure our beloved facilities like parks and recreation centers stay safe, accessible, and easy to rely on. Learn more
Climate action is part of everything I do.
It’s integrated into all of my thinking and decisions, and it’s explicit in every priority. Learn more.
My work is about strengthening and maintaining great city systems.
Here are some of the top things that I’ve been working on and continue to work towards. Here are some things I’ve led you might not know about. And here are some of my positions on current issues.
Here's how I’m working to move Boulder forward:
Belonging
Make every resident, worker, student, and visitor feel safe and protected, no matter who they are, where they’re from, or how they identify.
Build a budget that stretches our money to create the greatest benefits for our community today while being prepared for tomorrow.
Make Boulder a place where entrepreneurs can succeed and residents can have great local services.
Build resilience by cutting emissions, preparing for a changing climate, and making everyday life better, healthier, and cheaper.
Build a local economy that rises the tide for everyone while making the whole Boulder community financially strong.
Energy
Create a reliable electric grid that prevents costly power outages and allows people to control their own energy and save money.
Environment
Protect Boulder’s water, land, and air, ensuring our world class tradition of conservation stays strong in the face of new challenges.
Maintain management systems to ensure the city is headed in the right direction and the decisions we make support that direction.
Homelessness
Continue improving our approach to homelessness so we systematically move Boulder and our region towards solving the problem.
Build enough housing options so that families, workers, and seniors can afford to live and stay in Boulder.
Public spaces
Make Boulder’s parks, paths, and other facilities safe and inviting for everyone, balancing our needs for inclusion with stewardship.
Safety
Make Boulder a safe place to live, visit, and get where you’re going, no matter who you are and where you are in the community.
Transportation
Give every resident safe, predictable, and affordable ways to quickly and efficiently get where they need to go.
Wildfire
Protect Boulder from fast-moving wildfire before we experience a catastrophe, while keeping homes in our town affordably insured.
