What People Are Saying

Below are some select things people are saying about me. Also check out the endorsements page.

I was initially motivated to talk with Ryan because of his strong background on transportation and climate, and now I see him absorbing the totality of responsibilities and priorities of governing a city. Ryan is a great systems thinker, sussing out the connections among all the needs of our residents.

-Paul Culnan (excerpt from Paul’s letter to the Daily Camera)

Recognizing the need to modernize the city’s long-term strategy, Ryan and Tina have begun championing greater transparency, stronger oversight, and structural improvements to how Boulder manages its budget and capital project expenditures.

Ryan Schuchard is the best of all the incumbents running for re-election. Ryan understands the gravity of airport decisions and listens thoughtfully. He did not vote for taking FAA funding and pushed back at every step of that flawed process. He believes the city should have had a clear understanding of funding options and an independent review of staff’s airport funding analysis, before binding the city to perpetual funding obligations plus unclear and potentially shifting federal demands. Ryan supports initiatives such as landing fees, transparency of airport data, and proactively educating residents who live near the airport about aviation lead and how to protect their families. We are impressed with Ryan’s grasp of complicated details, his attention to fairness and good process, his long term mindset, and his open door and open heart. He has withstood strong pressure from the aviation lobby, staff, and his fellow councilmembers, without caving. We need his continued presence on Council.

Ryan has delivered. He has figured out that magical combination of sticking to his principles, learning from voters, building consensus on Council and holding city staff accountable.
